DETROIT -- Ford Division, planning to take the SVT performance brand to a more premium position, will drop the SVT Focus after the 2004 model year, the company says.

Dropping the car is part of an overhaul of the SVT lineup. No SVT models, including the SVT F-150 Lightning and the SVT Mustang Cobra, will be produced for about 18 months starting in the spring.

Ford will still sell a performance Focus, called the Focus ST, a four-door sedan. That car will debut in the 2005 model year.

Not like Ford has ANY competition to worry about during their hiatus. If the GM camp had their act together, they would launch a new performance vehicle during that SVT vacation.

I am not suprised that they aren't gonig to produce any SVT cars for the next 18 months, they just changed the F-150 and Mustang(for next year). No biggie, hopefully when the new Lightning and Cobra come out there won't be any bugs ie..99 cobra zIiiiinng........

C&D lists it at about 3821 curb weight. That means the car will weigh 4000 lbs + with driver and fuel. GTO = pig

Everything I have seen has said it was right around 3770. Yeah, thats only 50 pounds, but weight is weight. Also all the quarters I have seen are between 13.8 and 13.5, I would venture to say that is NO pig.

i saw it say 14.1, which makes more sense to me. it weighs more than the LS1 camaro's and it has basically the same engine (i think). No way it will run 13.5 stock

Well it IS Car and Driver... you have to take a few tenths off their times anyway, if you read their little disclaimer in the back with the explaination on how they test you'd know why. It is very possible I am mistaken on the 13.5, but I am certain that Motor Trend got WELL below a 14.1. If anyone has a MT on 'em I'd like to see what it says in there. I just saw the show on Speedvision the other day, and forgot exactly what the numbers were, I have to go off of websites (which sometimes aren't too reliable).

You can still be a pig and run 13.5's in the quarter. Look at the diesel running 11.5's. That is most definately swine.
