guess who wins

Benneliwang took this video, he owns the twin turbo c5 I did awhile back.

Well, the awd turbo van went back to the track. And it was a very good night.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway, heat warning advisory out for the day, possible new record for the day. I dont know the da....Id guess atleast 5000, probably 6000 or higher.

I have not touched the waistgate controller since building the van, its on the spring only STILL.

THERE IS VIDEO, and yes the van beat a NEW 638 hp ZR1. I commend the guy for even taking it to the track. He was completely cool, and obviously has considerable funds. He said he had the car for about 4 months and has had it to the road course already too. He also has a gtr. The vette ran a 13.02 @121. The van ran a 13.34 @ 99 and beat the vette with 1000-2000 people watching. Ihad a .260 rt to the vettes .800.

ZR1 . VAN
.800 .260
2.477 1.929
6.153 5.461
8.881 8.466
89.94 81.43
11.157 11.091
13.028 13.340
121.28 99.06

Needless to say, the crowd went crazy. It has more in it too. The wideband dies before I even got to the track, so I reverted to my old turbo buick tuning ways. If I didnt build it, and run it, I would even call bs on hearing what this thing is and what it runs.

It has a 4l80e in it, but lke Zombiess other thread, regarding gears again...well, the van only shifts ONE TIME and goes through in SECOND. (although it maybe faster even if I sort shift it too, further testing) It has a 2.48 first, 3.73's, 29 inch tire, and weights about 6600 while racing the zr1. I had one passenger while the vette was only the driver. All the excuses in the world will surface......I have NO doubt people will call bs, that the vette is faster etc....but IN THE REAL WORLD, THE VAN GOT THE LINE FIRST, and would DESTROY virtually every ZR1 on the STREET.

Video will be posted, and pics of the slip....and more pics of the van. BY far the most popular car at the mm event. BTW, we were gonna take 6 people out but only 5 rode out in the van to the track. It ran at about 3/4 tank full, with passenger, on 91 octane with water meth and the electric cutout OPEN.

Still 51 psi in the 275/45/20's.....

No excuse can over come........"but its a van"

Good job out-driving the guy in the ZR1, but the guy that thinks it would "DESTROY" virtually every ZR1 on the street needs his head examined. Trap speed of 121 vs 99 tells the story. A good driver can overcome traction problems.

good to know there's someone out there who's worse than me at driving. 13's @ 121, yikes.

He's probably one of those guys that says drag racing is boring and requires no skill.... Just point it in the right direction and hit the gas as hard as you can. :rice:

yeah I'm thinking that the zr1 driver started in 2n'd or something because that launch was lame

Alright, twice in that post the guy says he beat the ZR1. But with a time of 13.34 as opposed to 13.02 for the ZR1 how is that true?

Also in the vid i noticed the times lit up faster so it makes sense that he won.

the van won the race at the line. from the time the light turned green to when the wheels cross the finish line is what the track goes by. that is why reaction time is so important.

calculating in the R/T the Vette's "total" time was 13.828 and the van was 13.6. therefore total time from the technical start of the race to the finish of the race was won by the van at the tree.

while i see that van as badass.... i still think it would prolly kill some cars on the street..... think about this for a second, lets say you are sitting in traffic, first in line at a red light, the traffic is VERY light and there is no pedestrians around. this van rolls up next to you and the guy slightly rev's at you.....the light turns green and BAM!!! the van trees the crap out of you.... being the man you are you hit it and hold it.... but your rear tires have different thoughts....... problem is the 6600 pound van could launch on full boost in a downpour of rain and not spin a tire.... you and your car can sneeze on the accelerator pedal the wrong way and the back tires go up in smoke....

it all comes down to lining up with the right driver at the right time that can either drive the socks off the car and school the van and hurt his feelings OR someone who has that connection problem between the brain and foot that the brain says "roll into the throttle easily" and the foot says "awe HELL NAW" and foot goes to the floor and the van driver embarrasses the OP in the car......

sorry for the long response those are my feeble thoughts......

So, a better driver in a slower car beat a lesser driver in a faster car. And the surprise is?

There probably aren't many on here that remember seeing this movie when it came out but it was sorta like a Corvette Summer movie for vans when the craze was starting to hit - circa 1977.
