View Full Version : Does UF ever lose with class?

I'm not talking about being mad because a few key calls went the wrong way, and I'm not talking about the fight after the game, as any team would defend their mid-field logo. I'm talking about UF's Athletic Director Jeremy Foley.

Background: Obviously one team has a home team advantage, so to even the odds, the visiting team brings referees from their conference. Sounds fair enough.

Immediately following the game he is talking about how when he renews the contract to play FSU he will have to make changes concerning having officials from the visiting team's conference. What bastard!

Here's my take on that. He's just panzy that ran out of vagisil so is going to blame the ENTIRE game on the ref's. Maybe they blew a few calls but I hate to say it jackass.....MISSED CALLS ARE PART OF THE GAME!!! Everyone has games when the refs seem to completely fuck them over, but you deal with it. How many times have we almost be killed by the damn refs but never say a damn thing about it other than to ourselves? Because he lost he has to announce he's going to look into changing the provisions of the usual contract. That is poor form for 2 reasons. One it just makes him look like a crybaby and 2nd it publicly denounces the referees.
In sports it is an unwritten rule that no matter how bad it gets, you dont go on tv or in the paper and blame it on the refs. Remember last year when OSU stole it from Miami? No where did you hear Coker or Miami publicly and blatantly criticize the officials.
They try their best, have to make split second decisions and they dont have instant replay. You also must remember it is impossible for them to see every little thing bc look at their job. They have to see exactly what happens inside a pile of a million guys that are each the size of 3 normal people. Its impossible to see everything accurately. If they want to be mad then thats fine and they prolly have a right to be, but keep it to yourself.
It all started with Spurrier crying over the late hit game when his star not only lost but got the living shit beat out of him. Once again, its part of the game. You never heard a word out of Spurrier or the Gators when they win, only when they lose.
While Zook isnt as affective as Spurrier I will say he is much classier than Spurrier ever was!
That is all

i hear ya pretty boy. I went to the game and all the gator fans around me we just like "KICK THEIR ASS, so we can win at something". I thought it was great when PK made that catch and a stadium of 90,000 people were silent, except for us FSU fans. All but 3 of my friends that go to UF are gator fans and all day long they were talking shit to me and i just told them wait and see what happens. After the game i bought me a score card and just held it up high with a great big smile, follwed by the super excited happy dance (which i might demonstrate at sonic on tuesday). What a great weekend for FSU football. And my first trip to the swamp was very exciting and enjoyable. Especially since we won.

after that officiating crew i would change that also, i think anybody would. sure bad officiating is an unfortunate, small part of the game sometimes, but 6+ key(horrible) calls(that have such an impact) is unacceptable. CBS and ESPN(and CNNsi i think) already had stories out last night about the bad officiating, maybe he thought it was already public so he'd add his 2 cents today. you be hard pressed to find anyone to say anything good about referees period in any sport i think nuetral in UF/FSU's case might be a good idea.

i really dont care for Foley, cuase i feel like he shouldnt have have made it so "public" and Zook's class is a lot better than Spurriers attitude i agree.

personally i feel when two conference teams play each other, an outside conference officiating crew should be brought in

Fack the gators. They had their chance to win the game. Their D just had to stop us on 4th down. Were there any horrible calls during the last FSU drive where we went down the field in less than two minutes and scored a touchdown... NO.

Once again... fack the gators.

That Crowder, 55 on the Gators, guy should be kicked out of football. He thought he stripped the ball, got mad, spiked it, 15 yards. Missed a tackle later in the game and stoodthere with his hands across his chest pouting. End of the game he takes his helmet off and swings it at an FSU player. He's a crybaby, he shouldn't be allowed to play in a man's sport.

Crowder should have definately been taken out back and beaten for his piss poor performance. I dont think FSU should have won, not with their stupid QB Rix... they dont deserve to win until they get a better QB... but the refs gave it to them...

I like Spurriers, he had attitude... sometimes the game needs that...

of course I like the BROWNS in Pro bowl too... now they know how to handle refs... none of this get on TV after the fact and slam them bullshit... what pussies... knock them out with thrown beer bottles fromthe stands, now that is keeping those refs in line... :)

I hate the gators but I have to admit they played a good game and yes maybe we did get a few calls where it was not really clear but if we would have lost the game even with the calls going for us nobody would have said anything. They need to stop bitching and just accept the loss and move on it's over.
