i want a nice tv, im getting ready to move outta my current house with roommates and into my own place after i graduate, i dont have a tv
i want something large (36-55") and i would like it to be widescreen, HDTV compatible.
i have roughly 1000-1400 to spend
i already have a killer sound system so a nice tv would go well with it
what tv's would you recommend, also what are good places to get them???
any info i shoudl consider before getting one???
thanks
I think you should get a TV that has a 12bolt and 4.30's

i shopped around last january when i bought mine. when you get into HDTV's and widescreen you're lookin at at least $2k+. i wanted about what you're describing. only wanted one of the popular brands cause i was recomended Sony, Philips, and one other but i cant remember the name. Mine is a 50" Philips and it was around $1100 a year ago. i have bad eyes and the picture is great imo. i saw the same one last week in wal mart for about $980. Best buy/circuit city is gonna have a healthy markup on them vs other places, so i'd only use them as a last resort.

the reason i would like to go best buy or circuit city is cause i have credit cards through them and would like the no interest finance option, but i could always get a card elsewhere.
brandon what is the model number for your tv so i can
look at some specs on it
part numbers for any of these would be great so i can look up specs and shit
also i was thinking what about a projector and screen instead of a tv, hows the pic quility and stuff with those???

i believe the model # is 50P8341. i dont see it anymore on best buys site. reason i opted away from best buy...they had the same model for about $120 more, and the camera i bought i got for $250 less online.
heres a few that are in your price/size range that sound good:

Projection tv's are cheap as hell these days. You can get
a good one in your price range. Check best buy's open items
and keep an eye out at www.bensbargains.net .
Widescreen is cool but realize that if you mostly watch tv
as opposed to movies that you'll either have to zoom in and
cut out part of the picture or risk having the black bars
on the sides burn in.
BTW, you could get a low end 42" plasma for around $2500
if you want to be pimp.

dude, you have to have widescreen... otherwise dont waste your money... all movies are widescreen, and HDTV on widescreen just filters the last 5% of picture on each end, then uses a log expansion to quickly increase the gradient of available data to the edge of the screen to make the normal screen fit the wide so you get no side bars…
this is the TV I am getting... it is not TOO big and it is cheap but has all the high end features... and it is a tube... which gives you a clear bright picture, my friend has projection, I hate it, too dim and hae to sit just right in front of it so many feet away or the picture sucks... plus, too big, his is 53" and the normal tv looks all blocky since the resolution is low and the screen is ficking huge....
this is on 948.99 and is 30" check link...
use the rest of your saved money for a rear end. :)

Hey Ryan,
I work for Samsung Telecommunications America as the Southeasts Marketing Manager and I purchased two 42" Plasma Screens for around $1200 a piece. I'll give a call in Monday morning to see if I can't work something out for you and have it shipped directly to you or you might be able to pick it up at Best Buy. Either way I'll let you know.

Email has been sent! Please give me like 48-72hrs to get a finalized confirmation. Let me know if you see something else in the Samsung line-up. I would also recommend something in the new DLP technology :headbang:
