Looking to get some basic info on autos.
Whats the benefits over a stick?
Stall?
Trans brake?
Difference between AOD, C4, C6
Any other relative info.

What would it take to swap a T5 out to an auto?

Ok, for your last question, all it should take to swap the T5 for an auto is the tranmission, the converter, the automatic transmission crossmember, different driveshaft(maybe), pedals, different console(maybe or just ditch the whole thing), and I think thats it. That is coming from the research that I have been doing on my car so it might be different for yours.

T's building a racecar:headbang:

driveshaft should be ok. When i converted my auto to a T5 i didn't need a new driveshaft. All i know is don't go AOD.

might want to post this question on Stangnet (http://www.stangnet.com)

From whai I've seen people doing on there, the AODE is the thing to get. It also seems that, though the manuals have more impressive number on a dyno, the autos seem to go a little faster in the quarter, but at the cost cost of alot of fun for daily driving. Always remember that fun factor

I would go with the c4 over the AOD and c6. The c4 can hold power better than the AOD (dollar for dollar) and the c6 has too much parasitic loss. A built c6, however, would probably never scatter behind a small block.

Only thing about the C4 that bothers me is the no OD. At least thats what I read. And with a track a 2 hour drive away kinda hinders using a C4 IMO

ahh its easy as pie you just need the tranny, cable and clutch pedal assy, and of course all the main crap like clutch, fly, and all that crap but everything bolts up to where the auto stuff was no extra brackets or driveshaft needed.i did my conversion from a c4 in a few hours

I'm pretty sure he has a manual now and wants to switch to an auto.
