Im wondering if any of you guys are worried about breaking when you go to the track. What if you break something. Then you gotta leave your car there? That shit sucks. A two hour tow truck service would cost a good bit i bet.

The thought is always there, especially with my track record but you only live once so I always run til the car gets slower or the track closes. A two hour tow truck bill would be huge, not something I would like to pay.

Thats generally why I tow to the track. Even with a stock car. I will and have driven to G-ville tho. If it breaks, I'll go back with a truck/trailer.

I always wonder, but i would never pay a tow truck bill that big. I'd find somebody to tow me home or something like that.

Speaking of towing to the track Tony, did that blue vert that was at Gainesville of Firday make you want to tow another car other than the 02? ;)

You guys seem to not really be as concerned as me. For tony it makes it easier since he's got the option of trailering the car. But the rest of us could really get screwed out there.

Yeah I've thought about it, especially since like most of you guys, this car is my daily driver. Probably isn't one of the smarter things that I do, but the fun steps in after the first run. I was real paranoid this time, I guess because it was going to be the last race this season.

Luckly I didn't see it :) Debbie told me about it later. But ya, I was sitting in staging lanes wishing I had the 88. I wanted to wax some of those punks in the staging lanes.

Yea, the car looked just like yours other than the hood(his was stock) and he had a nice shiney fuel cell peeking out from underneath the back bumper. Made me very anxious to see yours out again.

With AAA's Plus membership you get 100 miles of free towing, after that the per-mile cost isn't bad. You could probably escape with under $150 in total costs, which isn't good, but still reasonable for a 2 hour tow.

That's why I tow the Black car. Look at the last time I went to Gainesville, second run and I broke the clutch. First time I did not drive the car on the trailer. I did drive that car to the Atlanta track one time (when I first bought it in 99) and yes I did not like it at all. I was worried I would break and not knowing anyone at the time I would have had to leave it overnight. Not a pretty thought.

I guess just build the car up the way you want and hope for the best. I just dont want to go worried. I know Ill never run well that way.

Dude, as soon as you get into the staging lanes, the butterflies are all in your stomach and that is the last thing on your mind. After that first run, its over, youre hooked for good whether youre worried or not. If the car runs well on the street, it will run good on the track. My car for instance, I beat on it a little before I headed out to Tony's(and the transmission went out:lol: ) just to make sure it could handle a couple of runs down the track. I wasnt worried about anything breaking because it preformed on the street, its not that different. T, dont psych yourself out man because we are going on the Jan. 24th and you are taking the Cobra or the LX, it doesnt matter to me but you are going to run a damn car at the freakin track and youre going to like it:mrgreen:

I have only worried a few times. When I dumped it from 4k on the drag radials and heard a clunk, that is the first time I thought about it.

The nice part for you T is that if you run the LX you still have the cobra. Running your daily driver is a little unnerving and I have talked myself out of racing before because I was worried about what might happen to my car... especially knowing that if something happens to Matt's car I'll have to drive his happy ass all over the place... and that the way he drives the chances of something happening to his car (especially at the track) are high. But, like Bo said, once you're in the staging lanes nothing else matters and after the first time down the track you won't be able to stop yourself from doing it again. Breaking your car is part of the experience, an unhappy unpleasant one, but part nonetheless. Just try to relax and keep in mind a backup plan, just in case. 8)

worry, I dont have time to worry... I am always in a rush...

I never worry because stock cars are pretty resilient. I havent done enough shit yet to warrant any uneasiness to drive the car like it was meant to me driven-Fast and in a str8 line.
But then again I dont have to worry about clutches breaking. I will start worrying when I put my rear up against bigger tires, but even then the chances are slim I'd break anything. A4 + the track= :headbang:
It is so damn addictive! Theres no better feeling than that first pass when your leg is shaking as it tries to hold down the gas pedal, and dont lie you ALL know what i mean!

you get kinda used to the adrenaline rush

hence the need to go faster and get the rush back

same thing with alcohol and drugs, after a while the same feeling doesnt do it for you, so you have to push farther

thats my problem with speed. i do it for a rush and after a very very short while the same feeling gets boring and you have get more mods and to push harder

i dont go fast because i want a fast car, or to impress people. i dont go fast because i want to be faster than other people or want a specific time slip. i just like the feeling i get through my whole body when i nail the gas, get thrown back, and it hits you so hard you cant breathe, when everything thats not directly infront of you becomes a blur, instinct takes over shifting and watching gauges and lights, and as soon as you let of the gas your left gasping for air saying "holy fuck" to yourself.

when WOT doesnt feel like that anymore, its time to go faster
