I am not too worried about sound quality so what is a decent but cheap recording mic and where is a good place to buy it?

Apparently I have lost mine. :(

I would just go to guitar center and ask some of them. Are you looking for a condensor mic or just a standard run of the mill mic? Cheapest mic that I would personally record with would be something like an sm-57 (mackie).

sm57 is a solid choice for micing guitar amps but what are you going to record to?

Just a standard mic that won't cost me $200. I will be recording in my living room so it isn't like I am too concerned about quality.

The computer you built for me. Eric has been mixing some loops with Hydrogen. I want to record some guitar tracks for it.

the SM-57 is Shure... just saying... don't think mackie makes mics .. yet, if you don't care about quality then any shitty wal mart mic will work. but hey what do i know about music.....

My wife is a semi-pro singer and does all of her singing, recording, mixing, tracks, etc., at her PC here in the home office. She's currently using an MXL 990 setup for her main mic and just happens to have another MXL 990 w/Instrument Mic NIB that she'll sell if you're interested. It's this package (http://www.amazon.com/MXL-990-991-Recording-Microphone/dp/B0002GJI3C).

I don't know what you have for the interface type but she also has a used SoundBlaster Extigy laying around (she got something more complex). If you want to see the specs on it just Google Sound Blaster Extigy and look for this pic.

I'm sure she'd work out a package deal, or sell separate. Maybe something like $100 for everything ? The mics are new and the SB is used and comes with the power cord and that's about it. You'd have to download the drivers.

If interested shoot me a PM.
