For those that my not know, the MyDVR service is now active with Comcast if you have one of their DVR boxes/tuners. On the DVR go to Menu > Setup and you'll see it in there. You activate it there and then it will tell you to go to www.comcast.net/mydvr . Go there to set up the rest of the stuff. It allows you to set and manage recordings over the web, like the satellite guys have had for some time.
It took a little while before I could log in (couple of hours) but it's working fine now. They even released an app for iPhone owners so you can schedule recordings or manage them from your phone.

Wow. OK, who's in the same boat as me on here ? I remember when my neighbor got their first Betamax VCR and his mom would let us watch his dad's pr0n on it. I've owned several 8-track tape players. I've owned a few turntables for playing 78RPM albums (plus 33 1/3 and 45). I've owned portable 45RPM record players (yikes). My parents had a car that had a record player in it as a factory option, didn't work so well when driving. In the military we used to place orders using punch cards. That was actually not as long ago as you might think - 1985.
I do have to say that growing up WE had much better toys than they have out today !

I remember Beta tapes @ the movie rental place. Use to have several 8-tracks (Convoy soundtrack was one I really remember having :) ). Don't remember portable record players or even seeing them in a vehicle.

I once stumbled upon one of these record players you speak of. It had edison written on it and was all fancy and wooden. I thought it was just a piece of furniture in the entryway for people to set things on.

Here's a couple of pics. They came in a few different cars and I don't remember which one Mom and Dad had, I'll have to ask him. Hell maybe it belonged to my grand parents.

Holy crap, the RIAA was in full effect even back then !
Alas, problems abounded with the system: Records skipped as the car encountered uneven surfaces. And an exclusive content arrangement with Columbia meant that drivers could listen only to artists signed to Columbia Records. According to the UAW Web site, the option initially lasted for only one model year, and despite resurgence a couple of year later, it was finally abandoned.

I had the same problem. I could log in fine to comcast.net with the main comcast account e-mail but not the "activation site". Checked back the next day and it said we were already activated and I was then able to sign in to the mydvr site. They must still be working bugs out of it. Or maybe they'll do like Google does with most things and leave it in Beta forever.

LOL, we've got one of these in our spare room that a lady gave us when she sold their lake house up in TN. Near mint condition with record player and AM/FM radio. All wood with sliding doors on top and it works fine. I'd have to look but I think it was built in the early 60s. It looks really similar to this Magnavox but is made by a company called Deluxe in England. It's still got the original owners manual, warranty card, and a spare stylus in the original box inside of it !

I had problems getting mine to work with my iphone and would not forwward me to the activation site. Apparently the Comcast MyDVR website will not activate with Safari but is iphone compatible? I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I can log in just fine, but tells me there are no DVR's associated with my account. Strange, I pay for two of the fucking things, and use them.
I love comcast!

Did you go into the DVR itself first and activate the feature ? If not go to Menu > Settings > and you'll see it in there. Something like Manage my DVR or something like that.

Turns out you *must* use the @comcast.net e-mail address, which I use for nothing and never logged in with. After correcting that I see my 2 DVR's but I'm still on hold with them, they thought there may be an "issue" with my account and my rates may need to be adjusted because I may not be paying for something. I'll be ripping assholes out through mouths if they try and jack my rates up. 198/month for 2 DVR's and internet, 2 premiums HBO and Showtime.

We've got the same thing but only one premium and we're paying ~$194. Regardless, the whole fucking scam is a ripoff ... but it's not like we have much choice.
