over heated and more

alright today i was driving (pontiac fiero) and i was at winn dixie and crosed teh street to walmart, got gas started heading home and noticed the battery light was on and then i realized the engine was heatin up, about 1/2 a mile later the engine light turned on and the temp. was rising......i found the nearest plaza which was the one that has dollar general in it right across the street from the circle k on shannon lakes and by then it was in the high reds and it was over heating really bad. found out the fan belt broke and was shredded up really bad. and today the car was shaking when i would take off in first gear like at a low RPM and once i hit about 3000 it would be gone. another thing is there is a squeeking noise that speeds up when the RPMs go up. So if anyone has any clue wut would cause all this it would help. the alternator and water pump were spinning fine when the car was parked. but please help me out on this one

Sounds like the belt that was replaced is on too tight. Try adjusting the tension.

alright well the belt was replaced and is running fine......i think it mighta been loose and possibly caught on a pully......the vibration is linked to the clutch so that means its time to replace the clutch.......lots of work

Fieros tend to have a problem overheating. Since the radiator is in front, alot of crap can build up in the pipes leading to the rear.

the actual oerheating problem was from a fan belt shredding, i've never had the fiero overheat on me even now except for a new fan belt going bad and good to see my 5 month old topic going again :wtfgun:
