I bought my new cold air intake and tuner yesterday, also submitted my info to the Bama Tune guys at American Muscle.
I was debating having the stainless steel housing painted black like the blue one in the customer pix here. If you want the calibration actually set to YOUR car and not just a mail order. Let me know. Mail Order tunes can get u close, but u can't beat actually tuning it with a wideband.

Thanks, I may do it once I'm done adding things on.
I could have saved you $40 if you ordered though us at Jaws Racing.

You could have done better than $705?

You need to learn how to shop around. Im not a fan of American Muscle at all, bama tunes or the steeda intake. The JLT would have been a better intake for sure!
$580 JLT with tuner and tune.

My brenspeed tune was damn near spot on Tony did however give it that little bit of extra love thanks again dude!

yes, and even more if you pay cash

I've shopped around plenty and in my research found there was no difference between many of the top CAI's including JLT and Steeda, it came down to preference. I preferred the look of the Steeda and to me it was worth the extra money. I also like the fact that I can get free tunes for life, I like what I've heard about American Muscle from the Mustang community and feel confident if I have any issues at all they will make it right with a quickness.
D, to be perfectly honest I looked at your site awhile back and wasn't impressed. It's pretty sparse and I'm not going to be calling people asking for prices on the off chance you might be able to save me a few dollars. There's no mention at all on your site about STeeda CAI's and your price for the tuner was $399, not really a bargain. Sorry if this offends you but you brought it up, not me.
I told you that I am a dealler for American muscle in your exhaust thread. Your post does not offend me I was just letting you know, so next time you might decide to keep your business local.

I'll definately keep you guys in mind when I get to the point of wanting custom tunes, but for now I'm just getting my feet wet and think I can live with the Bama tunes.

One thing to keep in mind is black will hold more heat than stainless. Not that it's a huge concern but just wanted to throw it out there.

My brother raised that concern too, but the car is black and being under the hood will it really add any more than would be there already?

I guess it would depend on if the CAI seal will seal against the underhood insulation or just against the metal. On mine it seals against the insulation, but my car is white so that really doesn't matter on mine. Either way I doubt it would make a big temperature difference as far as the hood color goes. Most of the heat will come from the residual heat from the engine and exhaust anyway.

105mm MAF on the JLT

that and plastic dissipates heat better than metal.

To you.
Are you really going to tell me that a metal heat shield looks better than a black plastic one? Or that the option of a lighter CF intake tube and or painted one looks bad? Not to mention the other obvious reasons as stated above 1)plastic wont give you near as much heat soak. 2)bigger MAF = more potential 3)would have saved you a few hundo for that exhaust you want

JFC, you have your opinion and I have mine, it's not a difficult concept. Both CAI's give the same performance improvements (http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php/167274-Which-is-better-JLT-CAI-vs.-STEEDA-CAI) so it boils down to personal preference and I do prefer the metal over the plastic. If you like yours great, I'm not saying you need to change your mind.
I'm really telling you I like the metal shield on the Steeda over the plastic one on the JLT.

It's all about a person's taste. So metal vs plastic, how can you say one looks better? The Stainless Steel shield Steeda provides will never crack, warp, fade, or fail like a plastic shield can. It can be painted to any color as well. Others will say plastic looks cheap compare to the stainless. Who knows?
Secondly, JLT's intake might claim to be carbon fiber but it's just a carbon overlay. It's not true carbon fiber. If it was real carbon fiber your pocket would know it.
Plastic won't heat soak as much as SS you're right, but when we were designing this kit we had the OEM in mind. So we needs something durable. If you recall every Shelby GT that left the Vegas plant was sporting a FRPP Cold Air intake (AKA Steeda). We produced over 10,000 units that year. Also with our tests, as well as Fords, the air intake temp raised ever so slighly over ambient as our shield seals better under the hood then JLT's.
Lastly the mass air flow. Your right that JLT's is bigger for the 05-10. But the mass air isn't the restriction for making power on an otherwise Stock motor. It's the TB.
BTR-75, Feel free to pm me on any of our parts and I'll be glad to take care of you.

you have a 5.0?
No, but the info contained in the link I attached basically remains true regardless of the year. It boils down to preference and I prefer the Steeda. I'm done justifying my purchase to you.
Long Stroke, I've posted a few times on the Steeda forum under the same name (BTR-75) but I'll definately be sure to PM you if I have any other questions or concerns.
