When you guys go to the track and get done with your run, do you downshift to slow down or do you put it in neutral and use the brakes??? Just wondering b/c my rotors seem to be really warped after the track day in g-ville. I had to get on the brakes pretty hard sometimes to stop.

i pull the shoot
i dont downshift cause im still well over 100 miles an hour i use by good old brakes besides brakes are cheaper to replace then a clutch or other drivetrain parts
In both cars, I just slow down as normal. I haven't had to much trouble with brake rotors.

ok, good, i was just making sure i wasn't the only one who brakes. At high speeds when i brake it feels like my rotors are going to wobble off the car, are they just warped or what?

what causes that all of a sudden, they were fine when i was braking in Silver Dollar, then in G-ville i had to get on the brakes pretty hard once, would all that heat just warp them or what? Would turning the rotors help or am i looking at getting new ones? How much money we lookin at if i need new ones?

you can always just let it roll til the pavement stops and turn off

Turning the rotors might help but to totally get it fixed your gonna have to spring for new ones which Im guessing arent cheap because they are the "Cobra" brakes.

You can get the 99+ Cobra replcement rotors on tirerack.com for $60 a piece. In 99 they switched to having Brembo make them and they don't warp like the 96-98 rotors do.

I try very hard to take it easy on my brakes at the end of the run. I sure as hell don't worry about hitting the first turn off at Gainesville or Silver Dollar. Especially at Silver Dollar I usually say the hell with it and drive down to the end of the track instead of busting my ass to be going slow enough to hit the first turn off, it's just easier.
One reason that I do this is because I make sure that I've got my foot to the floor well through the finish line. I learned this after my first race at Silver Dollar. I had a natural tendency to let off when I saw the finish line instead of running full bore through that bitch. Now I keep it to the floor until I'm positive that I've run through the traps and fuck it I don't car if I do take the second turn off. I don't see any need to be any harder on my car than I already am.

Mark, you have to remember that you are going a good bit faster than Bryan thru the traps too:P

yeah that 99+ cobra brake swap looks like a good deal. Next time i go to gville i'm not gonna get off on the first exit, that is what killed them
