On my car I have a pulley that is bypassed. From the research I've done I found that it is the air pump, and I think it has something to do with emissions. I figured one of you guys might know a little more about it. I've heard that it is something that is not needed, I guess thats why it is bypassed but any info would help out. Thanks.

ya, the Air pump is commonly bypass'd. For a couple reasons. 1 being less drag on engine and more power. The other it likes to lock up when it dies. It is only needed to add oxygen to the Cats. If you have no cats, no need to worry about it. If you have cats, get an off-road x-pipe :)

Yeah the cats have been taken out. The air pump has hoses on it, Is this something I can easily take out completely to save a little weight and room or is it better left alone till a motor swap?

yup, u can totally remove it an the hoses if you want. Not that had to do. Just have to block off the holes in the back of the heads, where the cross over pipe connects.

ya very easy to do. And spark plugs fit in the holes in the back of the head if you want to use some old ones to block the holes.
