Friday night, I ran out to CB. That primered CRX (some saw it at the S-factor show, parked over by us near the end of the day) was out there. I was bored, he was talking about beating the Harley truck, and could out run this and that. So, I said screw it and ran him.
Before Robbie could even get his hands all the way up, I hear his tires start to squeal. "Shit, he launched already". So I said fuck it and chased. Wasn't much chase to it, before I got outta 1st gear, he was at my back tire. By the time I went to shift into 4th gear I had ~1.5 to 2 cars on him.
Its a quick little crx, anyone not suspecting him he could surprise them. But once again, the lightly mod'd 02 takes out another ricer burner :)

And just cause you can hang with 1 97 Gt with simple mods, doesn't mean you can hang with all of them. Don't forget, just cause you can hang with him, doesn't mean he could drive.
I don't hate imports as much as I use too, but I still HATE rice. And the attitude that goes along with them. They are the reasons so many people hate imports. Ugly looking slow pos. And think they are the fastest thing on the road, its sad really. If you can't break the speedlimit in a race, don't race and don't talk shit!

1. There were no 5.0's in 96, they switched to the 4.6.
2. 96 GT's are dogs until you do a headswap.
3. They're not pretty even.

Relax there buddy. First of all did you read what Tony wrote to begin with? He complimented you saying your car is quick. There was no flaming whatsoever it was Tony being the stand-up guy he is.
One last thing, you brought the money aspect into this which is a big no-no. You talked about how little money you spent to get a quick car. You stated that we are wasting our money, but then look at how much money it took Shaun to build his car. It took him owning the shop to do that, and theres nothing wrong with him doing that. Just dont talk about being cool because u have a fast car purchased for little money, and then talk about another fast car that took an ungodly amount of money to build.
I'm not going to state Shaun's track record on engines, I think you got the point.

As for Shaun, I have never said one bad thing about him. From the experiences I have had with him, I like him, I think he is a cool guy. You say that asshole make domestics look stupid. Since we all drive domestics, it makes sense that we don't try to gain knowledge from shawn. Why would we want to know about, or how to work on imports(not rice) when we don't drive them and are not interested in them? I'd rather spend my time gaining knowledge to make my own car faster. I can't speek for eveyone, maybe some people want to know about imports to know about "the competition". I for one don't care if I beat someone else or not, I'm just here to have fun like everyone else probably is.
Also, no one here has a problem with shaun or his car, just the people that come on and talk shit for him, I think shaun is a nice person, especially after helping 96_WS6 at the track. If he wants to talk shit about beating someone he has every right to, but to me the other people have no right to talk shit. Say Ryan beat shawn, would it not piss you off if we came on your board and started talking shit and Ryan said nothing? Espescially since most of us aren't as fast as him. I respect shaun for not talking shit and for having a fast car.

Well seeing as how just about everyone here with the exception of T and JD are slowly building their cars specifically to go fast in a straight line, you're right, it doesn't count. At least not to us.

If fast is fast why bag on anyone about "race gas". I can see that some people do know what its for and how it works. Therefore not making posts regarding the use of it. Race gas makes any car safer to operate under a load. The combustion properties are such that it burns slower but at a lower temperature and more completely. Most gain from the "race" gas is from the allowance of higher cylinder presure with out detonation. With in turn allow more timing, boost , nitrous or whatever for MORE POWER without blowing up your motor. When a car gets to the point where it makes enough power to run solidly into the 12's the car and engine life can and will bennifit from the use of "race" gas.
Personally I grenaded a piston in my last motor when trying to do the "pump" gas thing. I ran an 11.40 on pump gas then went street racing and popped a piston. It could hae very well been something else but I no longer take a chance BC the guy talking "pump gas this and that" didn't put my motor back together. Shaun did however go 11.12 on "pump gas".(for clarification only)
I as well as all the other guys I go racing with here in Tallahassee use Et streets and drag radials. No "slicks". Some will say the et streets and drags hook the same, but they are wrong. I have raced on both. I like the streets better(opinions will vary). For one I can ride them around town if needed.
Well I gues thats about it for now. Just got tired of all the "race" gas slander. I wanted to explain in my own words why people use it and what the benifit would be. I don't ride around town all the time with it but it will be in the tank if I intend to race the car. For shits and giggle I think everyone should put a couple of gallons in the tank to clean out your fuels system a little and see how the car drives.

What kinda compression were you running on that 11.40 motor? Was your motor built with race gas in mind? If a motor is built with pump gas in mind I don't see why pump gas can be blamed. Maybe a tuning issue.

And why would someone race on radials if they own slicks? I raced on radials when asked out at schlotskys and will again. Just for the sake of racing. We have these cars to race. Win or lose raing and the thrill of acceleration is what we are all after. Winning just makes us feel like we're not wasting our money.

I have yet to be an Import advocate. Everytime I mention Shauns name(after it has already been brought up). Is to clarify what people think they know. I also have yet to say anything about the whole "my car is faster than yours" BS that the import drivers on here do. Do I want to race my car? Yes! Thats why I bought it. Do I want to race you? Not really BC of the above mentioned. Its not fun unless its close. Geez Im on the domestic side. I Do not own a fucking rice rocket, But I also don't hate them either. Its just a different view.
