Screw the warranty get that extra couple pounds of boost out of her. Well if anything happens just take the pulley back off and put the stocker back on then take it in. No worries!!!

factory diagnostic computer will tell them all. i wouldn't void that warranty untill it's nearly up and if i remember correctly this car barely gets driven. shit i think it's barely broken in.

To add a pulley, you really need a custom tune. Once that's done the dealer will know, if they have half a clue.
One day I have the only 03, the next everyone and his brother has one. Just what I need, another reason to mod.

For the Lightning, dad is getting a dyno tune using the Predator, which uses the OBD port. Then when he has to go in for service, he just changes the pulley and puts the stock tune back in.

Hobb,
I read some posts that even with that method they can tell? Again, if they look hard enough. Do you know if that is true or not? What I read said a flag get's added in the computer to say that changes were made through the OBD port, so in essence the dealer would know you were playing around.
I'm curious to know if that is true or not.

the stock computer maps the boost put threw the engine . even after a tune is put back to stock the boost map is still there to tell the service crew that u changed the pulley.

Hmm. I had not heard this. If this is true, then the predator would be no better than a chip, really. I would give Diablo a call and check on this Bruce.

It's been mentioned a lot of SVTP. The only positive side is a dealer has to look for it. If the dealer is looking to screw you they probably would look. That's part of the reason I've decided to wait until 36K.

a guy at superchips taught me this trick...
go to the dealer, tell them you need a new computer, pay 150 bucks or so, and tune that one. when warranty work is needed, reinstall stock computer. he has an 03 cobra and it has worked for him numerous times.

That's a pretty slick idea. You can just go to parts and order one to boot.

How is said computer installed? Is this something that a regular joe can do or does a mechanic have to do it?
The computer is located in the passenger side kick panel. It's simple to remove/replace, all you need is a 10mm socket. However, if you swap out your computer, you will have PATS issues like Andy said. You can disable PATS with a chip or flash, I believe, but I'm not sure.

passive antitheft system. The new computer has to be coded to your key, or your car will start and run for about 30 sec. When it dies, you have to take it to the dealer to be reset.
What's PATS?
Passive Anti-Theft System; it uses a computer chip in your key.

OIC. That would be very bad.

Does anybody know off the top of your head if the Diable Sport programmer could bypass the PATS?

There is a plastic seal that will be broken off once the pulley is changed... Ford is on the lookout..
IVe had a pulley and chip on my car for 20,000 miles... and it's completely fine!
