View Full Version : New dyno #s for the '02 :)
Went to JMS on Tuesday afternoon. For a little tuneing on the 02. He uses a Mustang Dyno now. Which has some cool features. Like you can make 1/4 runs on the dyno. And its pretty close. He had 1 car on there that ran within 1 tenth of what it ran at the track. After tuneing the car a bit, he made a couple 1/4 mile blasts. From what I can remeber off the top of my head right now (just got back from the 4 hour trip pretty tired) it was like a 2.15 60' 13.35@104.2 (I'll look at the vid tomorrow for exact #s).
But here is the graph. He did the final pull in Dynojet simulation. So the #s are more fimilar to people use to dynojet readings.

Two thumbs up, nice :alf:
Damn Tony! How are you making those numbers? I thought that car was pretty much stock. Not a question of whether it is or not. I just didn't know you had any mods on that car.
Regardless, nice pull!

doesn't the Mustang Dyno give higher #'s than other dyno's?
or is it the other way around?

It does give lower numbers usually, but some newer ones can be calibrated to read dyno jet numbers. Mustang Dynos rule
Nice numbers.
Yeah, Mustang Dyno #'s are always lower... they mimic more real-world conditions and are good for tuning. I think he got those final #'s because they did a last pull in a Dynojet simulation mode.
Ya, what Jon said. He tunes in the MD mode, so u get the load just like you were driving on the street. Then made the last run in Dynojet mode.
Mods to the 02 are:
O/R X-pipe ($160)
Borla Muffs with dumps (freebie, had them laying around :))
ASP Pulleys ($190)
UPR Cold Air ($85)
JMS Chip ($310)

I hate you. Since you already have a FFW trophy, can I have the one you're going to win this weekend?

also, how much did the JMS chip give you? Is that something i could get for the cobra? Worth it?
the numbers are 259.8 rwhp 299.7 tq.
Not sure exactly how much the chip gave me overall. Since I did it with other mods. The dyno tune picked up about 7-9 rwhp.

damn, i need some mods. I think you just caught me. My car would prolly put down like 260-270 rwhp i would guess. Dont know how much torque these 4V's make.
And now it begins....................who will run faster Tony on street tires, or Matt on slicks?

This was the best pass/pull on the dyno in the 1/4.

This was the first attempt at the 1/4 on the dyno..

And this is my 200 shot of nitrous pull:

Not much more than the 2V's in the tq department N/A I don't think... maybe 7-10 max? Not sure.
actually probably less torque than a 2V

oh looky here.....T talking more trash about racing when he's never been to the track...
well, seeing as how he's got more power, and better flowing heads then me.....it's a given he's gonna trap higher then me.
but we'll see.
T you guys will probably make more peak torque than a 2V, but our torque peaks earlier.

ok lets take tony's car for example. 260/300
lets take mine when it was totally stock probably right around 260/260 give or take. so at similar horsepower lvls, a 2V will make more power. This is from Ive seen. I could be wrong I suppose. And also who cares who's torque peaks first? with the right gear it dont matter

torque peak is very important, especially in your case (road race setup)
the lower in the rpm band the torque peak the more usable power you have
I see what you are saying.
But who cares if a 2Vs peak torque comes in 1k RPMs before mine do. Mine redline's a grand higher. So wouldnt be kinda similar? Am I looking at this wrong?

As long as the 4V stays high in the rev range, it's going to come out ahead. Like T said though, with the right gear...
I knew I should have held out for 4.30's
