not to fuel your bashing of jon and his blower or anything,  but thought you would enjoy this.
me and br1ev8 went to the track this weekend, it was a vortech s-trim @ 12lbs. on his mostly stock 4.6 vs a stock, down to the mufflers and filter LS1. i think he was a 96-98 GT.

thinking a blown 96-98 gt vs. a blown 02 gt is gonna be the same is a mistake.
looking at a difference of at least 70 horsepower. (in favor of the 02)
Yeah, 96-98 are dogs. Plus that's a non-intercooled setup.

I don't know for a fact, but having owned a Vortech setup, I can tell you that they are difficult and expensive to intercool, at least via a front-mount. Also, Brandon said it's on a mostly stock 4.6... just making an educated guess, but I could be wrong. If you use the Vortech power cooler thing like Andy, it's a little easier, but most people don't opt for that on a daily driver, and I rarely see them on SN95 Mustangs.
I doubt that 96-98 GT was making much more than 300RWHP.

yeah i know the ~96-98 GT's were underpowered compared to the newer GT's.
im just looking at the big picture here though. a blown v-8(w/12lbs of boost) couldnt keep up with a stock v-8.
no times, it was a street racing event.

he said he put down 317 uncorrected rwhp...whatever that equates to corrected :?:

thats pathetic.
Its fun though.... having the same size motor, and almost 200 MORE RWHP with 2lbs LESS boost.
Of course, the 4V motor responds more favorably to boost... the newer 2V's are good but not quite as good.
For comparison, I'm looking for 390+rwhp SAE, hopefully 400.

This is a nice vid, but I think the cid difference makes this a ridiculous comparison, for the same reason there's really no point in racing most stock turbo'd 4-bangers. Displacement is a real difference-maker.
Nice to know that an American-made LS1 is making that kind of power stock, though. :D

The both have about the same power and weight... so i think its a fair comparison.

he looked about 180lbs. bryan weighed the car at like 3475 i think with a sub in the back, that didnt include both of us(~370)...the stang had no passengers, and from what i saw not a lot of extra weight.
the stang was also a 5spd, and bryan is on some bald ass cooper cobra's.

The only thing I said was that it wasnt making much power. And I was right for once
