Any one on here auto cross? Just thought I would give a heads up and also introduce my self .I'm not sure if you guys/girls are down with rwd imports or not but this is the only local forum I could find. If anyone's going out there let me know .I'm pretty sure I will run. It should be fun on 14 yr old struts and springs and a warped rotor or two :D .The web site is www.dixiescca.com

Sorry bud, I only go in a str8 line at high speeds.....thus NSR #6
Chris
Where you guys racing at now since they kicked you out of the airport? I had a buddy race recently out there. He was in a black RSX. It was his first time out and he said he had a blast. What car you got?

its at the Commodore-Decatur Industrial Park in Bainbridge, GA. Its a old air strip but now its open with a semi truck driving school on the dirt road near by...I couldent go last month due to work but the month before that there was a late 90's black and gold mustang (gt i think) running and a few firebirds. Not a bad way to spend 20 dollars.
Eric
Sounds like fun, but these drag radials are saying "ME GO FAST STRAIGHT LINE NO TURN" =\
Maybe after new tires and some suspension work...

oh im in a 89 supra turbo. I only managed to spin it once. This sunday will be my 2nd time out there so im still pretty bad.So far i havent hit any cones but turned not so fast lap times. They did put me in the wrong class.I was put in street touring which allows up to 3l displacement no turbo.I should be in something else becaus i have a turbo.oh well
Eric
There arent many guys on here, if any, that want to do autoX. I personally want to do open tracking, but I cant afford it yet. Most of the guys are setup to go straight.....I think I might be the only one thats not. 8)

I understand about the straight line part but there are no strips near by (that i know of or that are open yet) so i figure i should try to fill my need for driving fast on a closed course. It would be cool to see some of you guys out there.

i dont know how much NSR racing would like high speed cornering
If I have time I'll probably stop by. Haven't talked to Rob (black mustang lx) in a while. I doubt I'll run the 02, only cause I don't want to kill its tires right now. Not with a race the next weekend.

not so fast big guy. Granted my car's not in the same league as yours when it comes to suspension mods, i still have all my swaybars AND strut tower brace. :D
One day you and me will Open Track at Sebring, and i'm gonna put you in the fucking wall. 8)

We need some credit, we can take the turn off at the end of the track at 30mph :alf:

but on the contrary my drunk friend.......to go fast in road racing you have to play it safe. :D
the smooth and steady line around the track is the quickest.

Mike is right. You'd be surprised at how tough it actually is to go fast through turns. It is considerably scarier taking your car at high speeds through a turn than a straight line. Especially in a Mustang. Smooth is good, but you also have to be fast and aggressive while the car is reaching its limits of traction. Not exactly an easy feat.
You guys interested in eventually open tracking your cars should do a few autocross events. It's a good warm up of what is to come. You should also check:
http://gulfcoastregionscca.org
That is where I am autocrossing at the moment. I regularly see speeds of up to 80mph and the track layout very closely ressembles an open track. My average speed is about 60+. You also get in over a minute worth of run time each run. If you guys are willing to travel 3+ hours to Reynolds, GA for 13-14sec runs at time, you should entertain Pensacola, FL. It's a little closer, and the fun is too hard to turn down.
Pensacola's next event is this Sunday also, but Dixie also runs a good event. Their new location has quite a bit more space than the airport parking lot. I won't be there, but I am definitely going to try to make their events starting next month in addition to Pensacola.
T, your car legally should fall under CP. The Kmember is what screwed you over, but I doubt Rob Ippolito will care if you run in SM. He will probably welcome it.
IUP99snake, you'll fall into either SM2 or EM. I am not sure if they are supporting SM2 yet. But like I told T, I don't think there will be much objection if you run in SM.
