Never thought that I would be giving a local machine shop a compliment, but I recently had Kevin's do a 3-angle valve job on my LT1 heads. Price is excellent, cost me right at $120.00 with new Viton Stem seals. For that they hot-tanked, media blasted, tumbled the valves, back cut the valves, disassembled, assembled including setting spring heights. Work looks excellent.
They also got me a set of Crane Springs, (one of mine was broken), at better than Summit prices, without charging me for shipping, and milled the heads for $35.00 a piece. The work looks excellent and I got them back in less than a week. :D

Too much typing and not enough working on the car. Are these things on yet?

The heads are on. Still have the intake, headers, front crankshaft seal to do. I'm getting it done on the "time" plan. Do a little each day after work. Hopefully back on the road NLT Saturday.

Never really complained about the quality of the port work done on my old heads, just what was done for what I paid. Basically all I got was an intake port match and some slight work done on the intake bowl. Exhaust and combustion chamber basically un-touched. For what I paid I could have had a set of CNC'd AFR's with all of the hardware. Live and learn.

How much would a port job cost? (For CRE with the flow bench) on say...a 4.3 Vortec?

You actually have to walk in through the Ace Hardware Store to get to the machine shop and parts counter.

They balanced my 383 and did a kickass job of it too. For $400, they tanked my block, fluxed it, checked it, internally balanced my 383, installed 3 slugs of mallory, changed my rods, balanced them, and installed the new pistons so it's all ready to go. Alot better than buddy's in my opinion...they took the time to explain to me what was going on and even showed me the equipment they use. Worth driving down there IMO. :bryant:
