know anything about minidv camcorders?

I just got a sony handycam dcrhc20, works great but I cannot figure out how to copy the video onto my computer, and all I have with the instructions is how to copy pictures. It doesnt say crap about video. Anyone know how??

You probably need a IEEE Firewire and a capture program.

I have a usb thing and I just ordered the firewire off ebay, cant i still do it with the usb though? just wont be as good as with the firewire? are there any programs i need?

I figured it out, used windows movie maker

Yep, a firewire cable (and hopefully you have a firewire port on your PC) and Windows Movie Maker. It comes with XP, but if you don't have it it's a free download.

Basically you hook up your cam, start movie maker and press record in movie maker, then press play on the cam. It's all really straightforward - you'll see once you try it. Tons of shit you can do with the video after you get it on the PC.

Oh yeah, if you don't have a firewire port on your PC you'll just have to go to CompUSA or somewhere and buy a card ... or find someone that has a port on theirs.

what does the firewire port look like? I just bought my dell like a year ago and got pretty much everything on it but Im not too sure what that looks like... Is it in the front or back?

Oops, and here's the other end that connects to the camera. Sony calls it iLink I think but it's the same thing.
