So I get a voice mail yesturday from the local office. State Farm has decieded they are going to drop my home owners insurance because of:
1) the roof
2) paint on the house
3) My "trained" attack dog
4) Sign on fence warning of attack dog

WTF?!?!?!

1) there is nothing wrong with the damn roof. It doesn't leak etc. The inspection I had back when I bought the house gave it another 20 years.
2) there is nothing wrong with the paint on the house!
3) Sable is FAR FAR from an attack dog, let alone a trained attack dog
4) the sign on the fence warns that the gate could move, since its an electric opening gate! Not a dog warning sign!!!!!!!

And the lady that left the message says I have to talk to her about it and she is going to be out of the office till next tuesday. WTF is wrong with these people. Course this is right after they got $661 escrow payment!

Call Cotton State. When we bought our house a couple of years ago, they were recommended by numerous people. So far, so good. Their price was the cheapest also.

I just switched to Mercury today. They are saving me about $400 a year over progressive, with lower deductibles even.

trooper w/ gieco= $3000 per year
trooper w/ mercury= $2000 p/y
mustang w/ mercury= $600 p/y
*all had same coverage and deductibles, only 7 points w/ 3 tickets

our home owners insurance rules, when our car was stolen on vacation they replaced everything we lost for original value or if it was too old they pro-rated it. i mean everything! CD's, suvineer's (sp), pillows, camping equipment, etc.

Recently I had Geico, then Progressive. When we bought our house we got SF since they were the only ones that had a window open during all the hurricanes to issue a policy. After we got that I called a few weeks later just for kicks to see what they would offer on my Civic for insurance. Half of what Progressive was charging me. Then when I got the LX I figured it would go up quite a bit ... now go figure this ... the LX was four dollars a month cheaper than the Honda.

Anyhow, back on subject, Tony - it may be well worth your while to get with DOI and file a complaint. Let them investigate it. Insurance companies hate when they're being investigated by the state. DOI falls under DFS if you want to check it out and get a little homework done ahead of time.

If I can be of any help, since I work in DFS along with a few others on here, just PM me.

Thanks, I looked around on that site a bit today actually. I am going to talk to them Tuesday when the lady is back in the office. If they give me any trouble then, I will hit them up with a complaint and investigation.

I've got State Farm Home and Auto, really should research other companies. My auto insurance for three cars runs about $600.00 a month, doesn't yet include the additonal Z with a 16 year old driver. I'm sure that I'm going to like that new addition, not.

My parents were life long State Farm customers, never made a claim, always paid on time, etc. etc. Anyways they had a washer hose break, flooded the living room, ruined high end furnture, carpet drapes etc. State Farm finally paid off after some threats of a court case, but made them feel like they were stealing from them, and that was with my parents paying replacement value premiums. Assholes, they make money on your money for years without having to pay you a dime, comes time to pay and it's like they're doing you a favor.

i had 7 points on my liscense and was paying ~~135

$140 is too expensive. so i got a quote form esurance and it was under $100 a month. full coverage. if mercury gives me $100+ they can kiss my ass.

Ha! I don't even have any tickets and mine (with State Farm) is $175 a month! It sucks when you're young because all the insurance companies hate you.

1400 a year with 3 vehicles (see sig) and full coverage on the 4x4 Ranger and my wife with 3 wrecks on her licence. Progressive. Something else insurance companies do that they are not supposed to do is base your premiums on your credit score. When My wifes's (then Fiance') insurance lapsed on her car to renew it was some astronomical rate. When she asked why they said it was because of her bad credit rating.

I listened to the voice mail again today, and it was Katy Fain that called. Her exact words were "We took pictures for our records and sent them into the corp office. And the corp office is LOOKING for a way to drop your policy" . And that she was calling to give me a heads up in case I wanted to find a new company for insurance before they sent me a non-renewal.

Sounds as if they are trying to get me to go somewhere and don't have a "reason" yet to drop me. Makes me wonder if there is some catch to me leaving them vs them droping me. Like a penalty if I cancel the policy, since they already got the $661 a couple weeks ago from escrow.

You dont even want to know what that "grocery getter" will cost when you aren't on your parents policy.
