It really sucks ass! Went to grab second hard and there it was---never did it too me in the GT. And to make things worse, it did not apply the brakes it cut the fuel. Instant ping on my relatively high compression motor (10.1:1). Bullshite.

no, it doesn't modulate the brakes at all (in some cases that would be bad, and that is actually used in stablity control) Ford's system will cut the fuel to some cylinders and then in some cases shut all the cyls down. I know, I had to happen to me VERY bad one day, I almost ate the steering wheel when it cut in. For an N/A motor, the fuel cutting really won't hurt ya.

It wouldn't bother me if it didn't ping. Spark knock is not acceptable to me in any form. I also thought that the Ford (Bosch) system uses pressure stored in the abs system to modulate the brakes at low speed wheel slip like when you start off on a slippery hill.

BFG DRs + rain + TCS = great investment
Isnt there a switch to trun it off on Fords?

I dont have it. Thats why I hate the rain so much :x I meant that I would pay to not have it if I was going to buy a new car.

Yeah, you can turn it off. There's also a module you can buy that makes it so its turned off when you start the car, like a default, and then you have to push the button (the button you would normally push to turn it off) to turn it on.

50 bucks for a little black box.
correct me if i'm mistaken... but dont the earlier traction-control cars (i.e. mine) only pull timing, and dont cut fuel or apply the brakes?
thats only what I heard. so im not sure.

I coulda swore that Jerry W. said that traction control pulls spark, not fuel.

The Bosch system works at all speeds: Whenever wheelspin is detected, the system retards ignition timing, cuts fuel flow, and activates the brakes at one or both drive wheels, in that order. The driver can turn the system off with a console switch
I stand corrected about the brakes.... When I think about the computer controlling brake modulation, I think of it controlling all 4 wheels, which, for TCS would be bad.

werd. 95% of the time I reach for the button. It has become a second nature thing like turning the key to start.
