Been doing a little research cause when I build the stroker I'm going to lose my AC and condensor. Anyways a guy on CZ28 sent me this picture. Looks pretty easy to do. Cut the existing accessory bracket a little and make that to bracket. Anybody here good with metal, maybe give me some ideas as to what kind to use and how to properly bend it as in the photo, (Bracket on the top of the alternator). I'd like the alternator to remain as stable as possible, not throwing belts etc.

Man would this make adjusting passenger side rockers and plug access much easier, not to mention running any centerbolt SBC valve cover that I want.

i do'nt see where it would be that hard to make. you'll need a grinder, some steel, a drill and some patience. i'd probably use 3/16" steel if it were me. if you want to shave a little weight you could use a piece of aluminum but i have no clue what grade you need.

Mark, is it just that one bar? That should be easy!

Are you looking for a shorter belt? Why not just get the ac delete pully from GM?

if it has to be bent then use steel. If you try to bend aluminum it will want to crack on you.

Just noticed that this guy has dumped his power steering pump as well, and I'm not going to do that, but I'm pretty sure that I could modify his design a little and keep the PS pump.

A solution for that is mass produced, but I cant remember who makes it. Moving the alternator sure would be nice though. Maybe I should look into it. In other news I have a new opti and wire set coming my way... I'm getting my FLA plates to read "POSOPTI"

Yeah, 3/16" steel should do it. Doesnt look to hard to fab up... blow torch, grinder, drill, nothing serious. HD has some nice sections of flat steel that im sure would work.

go to metal supermarkets instead of HD, it will be much cheaper. They can give you scrap for that little amount, and most of the time they won't charge you.

Yeah their are a couple of solutions out there. All are in the 150 - 200 range. The one solution is similar to the picture, but keeps the top "ear" where the alternator mounts now and replacing it with a pulley. So basically they cut the accessory bracket, add a pulley and charge you $150.00. I'm pretty sure that I can do it for quite a bit cheaper, and just as good if not better.

Well if you do, make two, and I'll buy one off of you.

You get me an another accessory bracket, I'll do it for the cost of that.

Upon further technical review I've decided that keeping the power steering pump will require a pulley up top because the power steering pump pully isn't ribbed. It's friction turned by the belt running off of the alternator pulley. Still pretty easy to do, just have to live with a pulley up where the alternator was.
