just google "direct tv hacks". there are some "offshore" companies that sell card programmers, i almost bought some of that stuff(from jamiaca or something like that) but my cousin programmed some cards for me. i had all channels for the basic satellite package. they "zap" your card/reciever once a month to "reset" the card, but your told to unplug the phoneline for that reason i believe.

they zap all sat. cards every month no matter if it is plugged into the phone line or not and are getting more frequent with it. If you are running a hacked card it should not be plugged into the phoneline but they zap the card threw the sat. dish.

Not too long ago Direct TV shut down the HU stream for their programming. This left many people without the free tv they had become accustomed to. I havent really checked recently but to my knowledge no one has found a way to program the P4 or 5 cards yet. There are a lot of those receivers out there that claim to deliver free tv but I havent had a chance to try any of them yet. I miss being able to pop a card in my programmer and have free tv moments later.

Yea I've got digital cable now too along with 3 receivers, 2 dishes, and a pile of HU cards collecting dust in my closet. Can't even get anything for them on E-bay anymore.
