Son of a bitch, it was almost done too. Just needed paint and was waiting for a motor I just finished building for it. I went into a corner that had a dip and the car started getting loose, the LR tire blew and I went sideways, and somehow got on the gas in second instead of the brake...caught dirt, flipped it and went along for the ride. Amazing thing is I walked away. On the first impact I smashed out the driver's window with my head, the second I smashed my head on the ground, but I was trying to hold myself away from the window the whole time with the steering wheel. Damn near crushed my arm as it hung out the window before the second impact, but I pulled it back in just in time. The car's body is a total loss. I left with a couple bumps on the head and a cut and seatbelt marks. The bags didn't pop. Amazingly, the tops are the only body part that didn't break.
My LR wheel went down in the street and sometime during the roll my wheel was torn off along with the brakes. I found a brake pad in the lawn. I left the street when I hit the gas and actually rolled between a house and a tree which was 10 feet away. I landed next to the driveway. I put a few ruts in the dead lawn, took out the top of a cable box, and a side railing for a set of porch stairs. I didn't have collision insurance. Fortunately I have another '94 Z28 body at home needing a motor and tranny.
Why does this $hit happen to me? I was about done with it!

dont really remember. I wasn't looking at the speedo when the tire went, I was trying to save it. Right about then, the road dropped off and I started sliding. Hit the gas instead of the brake and I was just along for the ride. The rest is history.
My insurance isn't covering anything except the damage to the guy's yard, which was minimal. My car, however, is a loss. Insurance wont cover it. Glad I have a body at home I can swap parts into. I'm curious to find out tomorrow how much it'll cost to get the car out of the boneyard.
My fuckin head hurts. Suprised I didn't break my neck.

a close call would have been if he had missed a pole by inches. this is the opposite of "close call"

I know what I'm going to do. I have another '94 Z28 shell that I'm going to build up. I'm taking a couple weeks off and that's how long I hav to strip one car and build up another.

Yeah. Other than having a cut, a couple bumps, marks from the belt and a bruised lung, I'm ok. Walkin and talkin like normal, even the swelling's gone already.

it would prob still be a good idea to go. Just to be safe
Make sure there are no hair line fractures in your ribs and there is no neck/head damage.
WOW. Sounds like it was a hell of a ride. My GF's ex died in a head-on last night. Now her kid doesn't have a dad. Count your blessings and don't worry about the car. Glad to hear you're OK.

I took a closer look at it today. The LR wheel had a hole in it, the LF busted the bead but is otherwise OK, and the panhard rod was completely torn off. not to mention the LF fender is completely gone, the radiator support shifted over to the driver's side 2" and down 2", the driver's door skin popped off and the window shattered, the hatch also shattered, the roof shifted over to the driver's side 1-2", the LR quarter is crushed inwards and down, the whole rear of the car behind the rear wheels is offset downwards, and the mirrors are gone. Sucks ass, but I'm going to start planning the swap to the other chassis now.

Holy Shiite. Glad to hear you're O.K. Could have been way worse. Look at it as a good excuse to start over.

Finally got all my shit together for swapping into my other car. My current one is completely stripped except for the engine. Looking forward to coming home this weekend and dropping in my new 382ci LT1 :wicked:

3.8" stroke, std. bore, 5.7 rods. Should be interesting. Cant wait to see what it runs like!
