Take that Pete Rose comment back. He deserves to be in the hall more than A LOT of the other people in there.

how many games did he throw/fix for his own benefit?

Truthfully, how can you throw a game as a coach?

IIRC, the betting was as a coach. Therefore he should be let in the HOF as a player, but not as a coach.

Although he did bet, he never bet against the Reds. Not that betting is ok, but for what he did on the field, he more than deserves to be in the Hall.

IMO who gives a flying fuck if they use AAS or not? Every single professional athlete has access to them so its not like they are doing something that others cant. I honestly dont see the harm.
Juice cant help you hit a ball nor can it help you throw over a plate. Most of the people that do it, do it for personal appearance in which case it affects no one other than themselves.
Funny how none of this came out until Bonds broke the record. Put a damn asteric next to the record if you want but get over it Bush. They werent even banned until 1990 (I believe).
They have been around since the 60's and its not like they are going anywhere.
Shouldnt they spend their time in Congress going after criminals that actually commit crimes against society as opposed to people who use naturally occurring hormones to merely make themselves physically better. Used 1/2 intelligently they wont have any adverse affects anyways. There has never once been a steroid relate death in history. They blame Caminiti's death on it when it came out he was a huge drug abuser and partier. Why not crack down on a known killer...Cigarettes. They are known to kill millions yet they are legal and juice is illegal without any deaths to its name.
I was watching this special about steroids and how they kill last night. It had a high school kid (2 weeks shy of his 20th b-day???) who started using them. Got big and strong and eventually the family came home to see him dead leading you to believe the juice killed him. Right b4 it ended it came out he had shot himself in the head. Suicide as a result of steroids? Come on find something better if you are going to say anything at all.
Again, funny how Bush did nothing about the juice when he was the owner of the Rangers (With Canseco as a player). Bush talks about how it is cheating and it is taking the easy way out. Pretty rash coming from a guy who was handed the Presidency by his father, and brother's position and by Florida being retarded in counting ballots.
End rant

What up Jericho? Long time no see. Hmmm? Interesting topic. I however am split somewhat down the middle. Instead of starting a long rant about misconseptions on responsible steroid use and how uninformed people really are about it, I'll simply direct you back to Jericho's post. However, I disagree about steroids helping in performance for these guys. Ofcourse it doesnt help hand-eye coordination, but could adding 20-30 lbs of muscle help the ball fly 10-15 feet further? Oh hell yes. If you have great hand-eye coordination to begin with and can increase your bat speed, homers are sure to increase. If you look at Bonds records, he wasnt belting out homers the way he is now when he was skinny. All the sudden, he puts on serious mass and hits a 70+ homer year as he's approaching his 40's? Come on! I also remember a quote he said a while back about the balls just flying that extra 10 feet all the sudden at about the same time he started blowing up. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with using steroids in baseball, as long as its allowed by all so no one has a unfair advantage and its a level playing field. But that will never happen as steroids are unjustly illegal. So while I dont think taking steeeeeroids(as most journalists and government officials call them) is hazardous to these guys health, it does provide them with an unfair advantage. As far as Curt goes, I cant see how juice could help a pitcher. Maybe it could add some mph, but surely at the cost of flexibility. Bottom line, keep the juice in bodybuilding where it belongs and out of baseball.

My sole disagreement with that last post is this. Bonds has been a 40 homer guy all of his career then he belts out 70+. Initially it would look as though steroids/ growth hormone helped him, however here is my arguement. Lets suppose he was 220-230lbs during that 70+ year. He's been that same 220-230 for at least 4-5 years and he was still only hitting in the neighborhood of 40 homeruns. So since hes been big for a number of years and only hit 40 and then hit 70 at the same size it isnt fair to completely correlate the homeruns to the juice.

Dont fuck with me, Im so much bigger than you! I will own you with more talk like that :taunt: I somewhat see what you're saying, but however you want to slice it, Bonds would not have hit 70+ with the frame he had. These other years you refer to where he hasnt had consistent numbers to the record braking year, well from what I remember hes been plagued with some injuries and has missed some games. Also, pitchers throw alot more conservative to him now. Im not saying the juice was soley responsible for his 70+ year. He had a great year no doubt. I just dont see it happening without the juice. Maybe he hits 50+ without the juice. And think about it, dudes in his 40s I think. Usually players numbers decline as they age, not the other way around.

Even if you want to dismiss Bonds, look at all the other guys. McGwire never hit homers like he did until he put on the mass, Andro my ass! Ofcourse he was always talented, but not 60+ homers talented. And even clearer is Giambi. Played great bulked up. Obviously quit the juice, shrivled up and had about his worst performance ever! Do you also believe that increased bat speed doesnt make for increased distance?
Jericho574
03-26-2005, 02:35 AM
Yes yes youre bigger than me, that was never a question but at least i can fit into Polo shirts and can also touch my own trap without my bi getting in the way 8) However again I disagree with Big Mac. He hit 49 as a skinny rookie and only missed 50 bc he gave up games due to the birth of his first son. I recall his first big league homer was a shot that cleared the centerfield fence by QUITE a bit so he always was strong and I believe the juice he took only made his long homers even longer.
I completely agree that if used correctly the juice can make a bat speed faster thus increasing distance but as you stated b4 it cant help hand-eye coordination. Also it is my personal belief that most all of the players that are suspected of using...already were sluggers. I mean cmon its not like bonds and big mac and Canseco were hitting it to the track and the juice put it over the fence.
To change players for a second, what do you think about A-Rod? He was scrawny his 1st few years and hes pretty damn big now.

Just messin bro. Hey atleast you can woop me on the tennis court. "but at least i can fit into Polo shirts and can also touch my own trap without my bi getting in the way," seems more like a compiment to me  . Dont know about A-rod. Havent paid that close attention to MLB over the past few years. I just wonder about NFL testing and why they're not going through the same shit. Not sure how its set up, but its supposed to be stricter than MLB but you know theres more guys juicin in the NFL than the MLB. This whole witch hunt is a big waste of time and money. Theres so many better causes for our government to concern themselves than mature adults choosing to use substances much less harmful than legal cigs and alcohol. I do agree that most of the players suspected were already sluggers, not Giambi though. He clearly sucks without it.

100% correct...why the fuck isnt the NFL under the gun? Think about it, baseball players can still be very good even without juice. Every NFL player that juices probably cant do their job without it.
And yeah...I guess not being able to fit in any type of normal clothing is cool. If my damn shoulder would heal and toe not be broken I'd get back into the gym with ya so you can feel good about outlifting me in every lift...except dips and pull-ups!!!

Jealous? I thought this was a grab-ass permitting forum? :wrong: I guess. All joking aside, many critics dont understand that another reason these guys are hitting so many more homers than the Babe Ruths etc. is because of the times. Ballparks are smaller, pitchers throw harder, existance of performance enhancing substances(legal stuff like creatine and stimulants), better equipment, ballplayers have trainers and certainly take better care of themselves nutrition wise, etc. I dont mean that to take away anything from what Bonds, McGwire have done. It just seems like many critics believe we should be stuck in the golden years of baseball and not use what is at the ballplayers disposal currently. As our culture has progressed, so have our sports. 20 years from now, someone will hit 80+ homers if baseball is allowed to progress as it has. OK, pretty sure that post had no grab-ass.
