Anybody have a spring compressor tool (preferably one that works well with LS1's and their rediculous cowl) that I can buy/borrow? Will have a need for it in the next 2 weeks.

I have a handhend one and a lever one. Your welcome to both, though what you need to find is a larry tool.

Thanks man! What's the handheld one look like? I'm leaning toward this piece here:

Just to make sure I can do it without too much trouble with that damn cowl in the way.

Travis, he needs a valvespring compressor.
Ryan, like Spinner said, the "Larry's" tool is the best for the LS1. Im pretty sure Tally TA has the dimensions if you wanna make one. Its really easy to do and its the easiest for the LS1, especially if youre going with duals. I have the Crane/Vinci compressor and its badass but I dont know if the dimesnions of the springs are the same on the LS1 and the LT1.
VHP/Crane (same manufacturer) has a compressor that works on the LS1. It allows you to do 2 springs at once and is hands-down the best tool available, far superior to the Larry tool. It just depends if you want to spend the extra money.

Well worth the money. Do you want to spend 15 minutes removing springs or 2 hours.

Anyone know if the LT1 version will work on an LS1?

Don't really know but Crane has two different versions, one for basically all other SBC's (Including LT1), and another for the LS1, so I'm guessing no.

Just checked that Crane Cams tool, very nice piece and looks to be worth it since it would take like 2x as long with any other tool.
Unless somebody's got a better suggestion or one I can borrow (not sure if LS1/LT1 springs are same size, I'll look tonight) I'll probably be going with that.

Oh.. another non-related question. Anybody that's ordered from gmpartsdirect.com before, how long does it usually take to get your order in from them? I was guessing it would take a bit of time, but it was just today that it changed from processing to "Special Ordered", I placed the order on the 29th.

While the Crane Cams tool looks bad-ass, the Tally TA tool is probably going to win out. I don't honestly think it will take that much longer than the other one, and the cost is going to be hard to beat :joystick:

LT1 and LS1 springs are the same more or less, but that type of tool isnt interchangeable because LS1 rocker studs are tiny compared to LT1/SBC rocker studs. My tool is the same as the SLP tool at the top.
