Any of you 4v guys have the dreaded driver's side engine tick that seems to come from the exhaust? My mach has it and it is driving me crazy. I have heard the 03 cobras are having problems with it, and I have the same heads. Anyone else? There is a TSB on it for the cobras, which basically is a head replacement that may or may not work. Ford is calling it a valve guide problem. I don't think I want anyone at any dealership around here tearing down my engine!!
NitrousPete had that problem on his '03. He did a write up on re-tq'in the cams. Noise went away for a couple days, but came back.
Haven't heard of true fix yet.

I don't mind little noises, they give an engine character. I just don't want to have a cam follower beaten to death due to a weak lash adjuster. I am through worrying about it until Ford can give me an answer. So to everybody, no I don't have solid lifters on cylinders 7 & 8. A little smoke is ok too--lubricates the rings real good!!:)
