anyone running them? Im thinking of switching from the TR-55's. I had 3 come loose on me on my way home yesterday. I tightened all of them down again and when I got home, I checked them again and there was one loose again. After some research, a lot of the LT1 guys have had this problem with the NGK. Anyways, the Autolite seems to be a decent plug(one heat range colder than stock) from what Ive heard. Im just looking for a little info from people I know.

Also, do I even need a heat range colder? From what Ive read,(which in most cases cant be believed) some say a modded motor requires a colder plug and some say it doesnt. BTW, the thing was running HOT!!! The plugs were perfectly white!

I had the same problem with the cold NGK nitrous plugs in my 93.I am using the autolight plat2. They work fine in my opinion. I have them gaped all the way out to .06 and don’t blow out under a low RPM. I just pulled them out last week when I went up on my jets the burn looked good to me(nice and brown). I have had a lot of guys tell me to use the regular non plat plug because the MSD will destroy the plat plug. But so far so good….. Man I usta hate to change the plugs in my LT1 Camaro. Only takes me 20 min in the truck, good luck with the 93 Lt1 hope the problem gets solved.

I believe you'll want to go a heat range colder if you are running boost (or a lot of timing). Perhaps Tony can chime in here.

Normally you don't go to a colder plug unless you are running a PowerAdder. White plugs just mean lean. But you can't really go by that to much anymore due to Fuel injection. The only way to truely read a plug is make a pass and shut the car off right after the traps and coast to a safe place to check them. Any idle time will throw off "reading" them.

I run 104s. ONE PIECE DESIGN. Fuck the three piece NGKs. The 104s are great plugs.

I went with the 104's because a lot of the modded LT1 guys(guys that know their stuff and I trust) use them and stand behind them. If they dont work well, Ill throw them away and cry about my $11 later. Plus, they only had eight 106's(stock heat range) and they are going in the black car. 8)

Yup, up unitl now, my car hasnt stayed together long enough for a set to come loose on me but like I said, its a problem that a good # of people have had. NGK's worked well for me but I guess Im just trying something new.

I think you will have a good result with the Autolight plugs. I am not sure if it is worth it now because your car is running good at 12.3. But if you think it is lean take it to the dyno and have them put the O2 on it. That was on of my concerns I wanted to take care of before I put the bottle on my truck, that and the headers.

I want all the help that I can get. I want 11's cam only. Probably not gonna happen, especially with whats coming next...but thats what Im aiming for.

Do you have heads yet? Or when you say cam only you only have a cam and bolt on go fast goodies?

Stock heads. The car is a semi-bolt-on car with a medium sized cam.

Shit you get some heads and you will run 11's for sure. You are running better than my truck with heads. I can't get the thing to hock at all even with my drag radials. The last time I ran it was in Tallahassee on Mr. Bonds G-tech in Wakulla. The best I could get it to do on street tires was 13.3 at 115 before the tranny blew up for the 2nd time. That shit sucked It went from to a 13.2 to a 13.5 14.1 I was like “what the fuck”. Tried to run it one more time Boom! DON’T TAKE YOU CAR TO Nationwide on capital circle NE!

Generally Autolite plugs are a Ford plug ( pretty close to motorcraft) and AC Delco is typically stock in GM's. I know that it's all about personal preference. Personaly I think Autolites are fine as long as they suit your needs. They just came out with new autolite plugs called xtreme performance, you may check them out. If you want more info...give me a call at the warehouse.
