Anyone got any tips on getting front coil springs in a 94 cobra? Me and Greg (94snake) tried everything to get in his drag springs the other day and couldn't get them in. Is there some special type of spring compressor for them that will fit in that small area and still be able to get them off afterwards?

Its a pain in the ass to get non-lowering springs in the front. I find it easiest to use both spring compressors that you can get from autozone. There is one that goes on the inside, and another spring compressor you can get has two sets of clamps to compress from the outside. I always ended up doing all sorts of weird stuff trying to get the spring in so good luck.

PS: I remember using the one that goes inside, and once getting the spring in, you have to dis-assemble the compressor inside the spring and dropping it in pieces out of the bottom through the hole in the A-arm.

We've tried the compressors that go on the outside and couldn't get the spring in with them on because they were in the way.
We didn't try the one that goes in the center because it looked like it wouldn't fit out of the a-arm. We didn't think about dissassembling it though. I guess we can give that a try.

Get the car up as high as possible,so the arm can hang almost straight down, undo the tie rod if you haven't already done so. Put the back of the spring in the lower cup on the arm as much as you can and line the top up with the perch on the k-member then use the jack to put the a-arm back up.

Will that still work for stock ride-height springs?

don't worry about lifts, the car is completly off the ground about a good 5 1/2 to 6 feet. we had compressors plus crowbars. trying to dissamble the compressor inside the spring sounds like a good idea. this friday i've got a day off and i wanna race that night so i'll be at the garage again. any other advice would be awesome if anyone has any. and thanks Adam for posting this for me.

hey dude you goin to be able to help me out friday morning. i still plan to go to NAPA and maybe find a smaller compressor, we'll have to install my fuel pressure regulator too. ahh man just the installation of the rear springs i've noticed a ride difference. it's smoother over bumps, those lowering springs suck. car doesn't seem to jump off the road after driving over a road patch.

man i just finished installing my pressure regulator, big big difference. i pumped it from 32 psi to 38 psi. like i said big difference. it might take more but i'll figure that out at the track. the cobra likes the fuel!!!
