well just got back from the track. only did 3 passes and went home frustrated. had no problems hooking up this time, but the snake just needs a little more bite. tranny needs rebuilt too, tired of fighting it into 2nd. also learned the posi engages when it feels like it, oh well. my best pass was a 14.52@96, then slowly worsened from there. i don't feel too bad though saw a black snake, 94 or 95 because it still said mustang on the bumper, and i was running better than him. i won't be back out till i make some motor/drivetrain mods. those GTOs were pretty cool though. 15Apr2005

That really sucks man, what were your 60 fts like? I take it you got the other spring finished after i left at least. Lets throw a cam in this week, and some heads while were at it :D

:wicked: i love trying to spend other peoples money, lol

I was pretty disappointed too. Sounds like you did alright though. I'm running over 6 psi above stock and i cant even run within a second of the stock ET. On top of that I had to drive all the way back to Tally going 35 because I wasn't boosting at all because on my last run I think I blew an IC pipe.

I got my new best...14.3 @ 96 w/ 2.2 60'. Then, my clutch decided to die :( Oh well, McLeod here I come! 8)

14.3 @ 92 on the skreet tires... and the filter clamp was keeping me from WOT!! So the slicks go into retirement for the time being. At least until I have traction problems on the Kumhos. (they have lost their "shittykumho" nickname for now)

no no they retain the shittykumho name...at least in my book...bouncing and swaying from 50-84mph on the track is not fun....but at least i got into 15s...

It was the track that was doing that. I guess those "track improvements" from last week involved putting SPEEDBUMPS at the end :wtf:

The woman that was signaling the burnouts was a complete and total dumb-ass. she single-handedly doubled the time of each run. She was holding burnouts until the cars ahead were 7/8's the way down the track...she also sprayed down water every other minute...flooding the box...so that there was no room to drive around the water

p.s. the track was great they gave me a 14.8

Best pass I cut a 1.90 60', missed 3rd, ran 12.14 @ 118, something's not right

To top it off, I grenaded the posi on my last pass of the night. BIG thanks to Mr. and Mrs. RBPower for the tow and ride, I owe you guys one.

hey it was good meeting you all last night. as far as that chick in the burnout box, yeah she sucked. hey adam while we're doing the cam and head swap i figure we just bolt in my 347 rotating assembly that i want also. since we're spending my money and all. but i do know (according to Desktop Dyno) there's a certain Comp Cam that is good for 50 hp over stock cobra cam. i've heard that these stock cams are way too small for these motors. but my current combo i believe is still good for low 14s or high 13s because i'm trapping 95-96mph. just have to fix my weak links, my tranny is the biggest weak spot followed by the rear. i'm goin to toss a centerforce clutch package into the deal too. oh yeah as far as 60' times. i bettered it las night from a 2.2 to 2.0.

Got my new best. 13.5x @ 105.x (slip is in the car) Bad Spinning off the line still.

There was another guy there with the same exact car pulled a 13.2x so I know I can get there. :wtf:

I need some practice. :wicked:

It always sucks when you go to do a burnout: Rev the engine way up, Drop that clutch and Put..Put..Put.. DAMN T/C!!!!!

i'm ready to shove my foot in my car's ass. and my driving = teh suck. i put a bunch of stuff on and in and ran wut it did before i did the mods. my driving skills were way rusty, tires weren't broken in and i'm not used to the clutch yet but these are my sorry ass excuses for running a 13.1 @ 110. man o man am i disappointed. my first run was 10x worse. and i'm getting really pissed off on how they are running that track now. its really fucking slow to get in runs and they are still letting the biggest peices of shit run that usually end up breaking something.
serious shit now--i was expecting to run a mid 12, hoping for a low 12 at anywhere from 112-115mph, but i ran a mid to low 13 @110. the track really shows me just how bad my driving is and makes me want to stick to street racing.

Tony, are you still running a cutout? I would think that if you put a couple in your y-pipe, it would really open that thing up, especially up top. What tires were you running on? And, dont get down on yourself and your driving. Youll get there. That just means you need to race it more often for the practice. Im sure youll run better at the shootout.

what did jermaine run?
12.6 or 12.7--said his convertor was locking and unlocking. but he cut a 1.7
someone has a pic where it looked like he may have lifted a tire

bo--running brand new nitto DR's. and my cutout was closed but still it was a terrible and traumatizing experience last night for me.

Jermaine has been complaining about converters for I dont know how long.

And Tony, I would think that your stock exhaust would be choking you down pretty good. Since Ive seen you last, you might have put the hooker muffler on it but still, I would think the cutout would help you a good bit. Also, theres only one way to break your tires in...use em!!!! Ive never had a problem with tires being too new but next time, break them bitches in the right way. :bryant:

sstony
04-16-2005, 01:03 PM
i'm not gonna use the hooker--i like how quiet my slp is. i'll learn how to drive it again before the shoot out and i'll have my cutout squared away before that too. maybe a line lock too

yeah tony you can improve....i mean i ran a 14.8 after 3 different trips to cecil running mid-15's. you just need practice with your nearly brand new setup.

12.59 @ 108.8 i think 1.79 60'. he "said" it was locking and unlocking goin down the track but it looked and sounded like a clean pass to me. i also didnt feel anything abnormal on the way home.

tony - shoulda let me drive it.

seriously i need to stop going to the track without something to race. its making me sick inside.

94Snake
04-16-2005, 05:29 PM

My 11.9 combo went 12.7 when I first got the engine together. Nothing powerwise changed from that 12.7 to the 11.9

food for thought

yeah you can definetley get mid 12s from your setup tony, a line lock should help you out alot. From what i understand the nittos need to be heated up pretty good, and thats hard to do with a 6sp and no line lock. Keep your head up and you'll get there.

11.55 @ 119.84 with a 1.787 60' new best. I got to tune the rear supension next time. Working on getting my 1.6 60' back, with that I should be running 11.3X to 11.4X :wicked: . With a gear (3.73), deep 11's.

i have a feeling the street racing gods dont like you running at tracks tony. sucks about that 4th gear. keep us updated.
