timing belt went on sisters eclipse (non turbo)

replaced it, all the good stuff...even disassembled again to double check timing

...no compression. Thinking valves are bent. Time to spend alot of money.

Tally list:

ecu
ignition pieces
o2 sensor
intake temp sensor
clutch
timing belt
rebuilt head?

I thought when something like that happened to a car like that, you just crumbled it up, threw it away, and got a new one.

Unfortunately, yes.

Dad and I are pretty sure (after checking everything else) that most all the valves are fucked...

Trying to figure out how to go about telling mrs finances

Me on the other hand, I told my sister to use the money she's saving for a bike to put a DP on a car. I'll take the car and rebuild the head. I have the money to do so, but she don't want to pay for a car LOL

yeah those eclipse motors have to be absolutely perfect or else you bend all the valves. a mechanic was explaining it to me one time and i couldnt believe how precise it had to be. i know i wont ever be trying to replace one.

420a's are pretty common and fairly cheap, shouldn't be hard to get another head. Good luck with that thing, I hate working on Mitsu's.

Oil changing has something to do with the timing belt breaking? I'm no import mechanic, but thats not making any sense?

Absolutely everything is tore apart now. Heres the shopping list:

radiator
head gasket
exhaust manifold gasket (she may be purchasing a header)
exhaust piping gasket
intake manifold gasket
1 foot heater hose
alternator belt
oil
antifreeze
2 cans degreaser
radiator flush
wd40

And the best for last:
an entire top end rebuild

That was the first thing we changed, reassembled it, all the good stuff.

Even tore it apart again to check timing.

Reassembled again, no compression.

All 8 intake valves are bent.
