The other thread was getting pretty long. Is there anything going on with the appeals or "same ole same ole"? Is there anything that we can do to speed things along or help out in any way?

Other than vandalism or physical harm, can we sign a petition or go to the appeal meeting or is there any other way to show that we are fired up about us getting a track? She is getting her neighbors on her side and she is keeping this BS going because of their strength in numbers. Lets show our strength in our numbers and get behind our guys.

ive got a great idea:
instead of trying to win the old bat over.... find a plot of land a few miles out of town (theres tons available) and either pool lots and lots of money together, or find an investor willing to back you up. there are many ways to gather the money... sponsors... whatever.. but, IMHO, go somewhere else. itll be cheaper, and easier.

Thats actually Charle's plan B. But he would prefer to open THAT track. Instead of over in Perry.
I would assume there would be alot of red tape to go around with opening a track in a different area.

I think in the long run, it would be harder to open a track somewhere else because of all of the things that need to get done in order to build it. Also, no matter where someone trys to build something like that, there will always be someone opposing it in some way, shape, or form :???:

there are new tracks all across the country.... they don't seem to have any problems with opening it up, obtaining the necessary permits, staff, and equipment. Its pretty simple. Simpler than a stupid court battle with an old broad that is set in her ways. If you build a track out in the boondocks, there will be less people to oppose it.

we are in the bible belt man. there are alot of old people still around here that have nothing better to do than spend their time stopping things from happening. for instance my neighbor

Perry wouldn't be a bad place to open it there is a lot of open land for use an it probably wouldn't be that hard to get a lot of sponsors in perry either.

Sup, y'all I'm new here, so howdy.
The lady that is giving y'all all the problems about the track is a friend of my family's. I'm gonna see if my mom will try to talk to her about it or something. Any ways, just wanted to let you know that I'm gonna try to do something about her. See ya.

The current permit will not allow the owner to build any new buildings at this time. However he can use existing buildings and anything that can be removed. Plans are to push foward with the resurfacing and we are looking into large fold up bleechers and portable johns. I will keep everyone posted if I find any more information.

So, do we have any news on it yet? Or are we royally screwed for trying to get that thing open around here? I hate driving on the interstate and have to for 12 hours each time to go home, so I don't want to go far for dragging. Now that we have more members, we could maybe get a petition going and go at it like that.

No, your resurrection is permissible due to the pendency of the topic at hand. Call it an update, if you will.

I was thinking of something the other day. Did anyone consider getting the NHRA involved? They are strongly opposed to street racing and I think that they would back us in trying to get the track opened...
Ok, talked to Charles about the track. He has NO plans of backing out. He is waiting on the last appeal Becky sent in. The judge has had the papers on the case since Nov but hasn't ruled on it yet. He said he is going to fight this till he can fight no more and thinks it will take close to 2 years more before its all said and done. But thats the worst case deal, it could be done with the courts a lot faster. Just depends on how things goes. It was just good to hear that he is not giving up on this. There are some other things plan'd I will let everyone know when they are coming up.

Cool. We will finally have a track here again. Maybe if someone calls up the NHRA, we can make it go through faster. If anyone has their number, I'll call 'em.

I emailed NHRA I dunno if it'll do any good, but I figure we're not the first ones to ask them about a situation like this. BTW, they're email address is nhra@nhra.com if any one else wants to give it a shot.
I'll post back if/when they write me back.
