I have found a 1994 Z28 for sale, the guy wants a little over $5,000, I figure if it works out Ill offer him an even 5. It has 107,000 miles on it, 100% stock and has never had any major maintenance needed. I asked him specificaly about the opti and he said he has had money saved in case it went out for the last 40,000 miles and it has never given him any problems. We only spoke breifly but it's white with charcoal leather interior. It is unfortunantly an automatic but I think thats a bigger deal to everyone else then it is to me.

Power/CD player/AC/ all that good stuff.

Is this a car worth pursuing and if so would any one who knows their stuff be willing to come with me to check it out, Ill drive and buy lunch.

Its a local car, I talked to him for like 3 minutes on the phone, told him I would talk to some people and let him know If I was interested enough to come look at it. He said its in excellent condition and very clean. I have not seen it yet though.

LT1 = my idea! Your welcome X.

I was looking on Autotrader and 94 and 95 140,000 mile cars were going for $6000 so thats not a bad deal. Auto is no problem, and could even be better. Do like Bo and slap a big cam and a big stall in there and tear up. Actually you can buy my 3000 stall haha (unless i put it back in).

If the opti hasnt gone out, it will. Other things to look at are the obvious things like oil leaks, slipping tranny, noisy rear, and the allignment. Also, run a carfax and see if its been wrecked because if it has, he wants too much for it.

Sure, when are you going to look at it? It's a little high at $5000.00. I think that guy off of hwy 90 was selling a mod'd one with supercharger on it for about the the same price.

i'd say its a bit high priced. i've seen Lt1 f-bods for way less, but i never stopped to see wut kind of condition they were in.

thats a good idea. where is this car located? someone may have seen it while driving by or something and might know something about it. also, to add to bo's list, check the window motors as well. i think f-bodies are notorious for going through them and if its on its way, you might wanna get it fixed before a purchase.

Julian- thanks, I will let you know. What do you guys feel is a fair price if it is in as good of a condition as the guy says it is?

JC- I guess I know where the test drive is gonna be to :wicked:

Shut up or pay for a new transmission

you don't need a new transmission.

And you know since it is your car.

If dan finds a moist towellet for his beef lips and quits trying to talk me out of it, sell it.

Not a bad price if it is in excellent condition, i think i'd offer $4500, if he doesn't take it just leave and let him think about it, i bet he'd take it after a week or so. If not, there are plenty of lt1 f-bodys around so its not a big loss.

Not to sound like an old man here or anything, but since you have limited driving experience, the automatic is probably better for you to start out with anyway. Its a big jump up from the grand prix, and the rear wheel drive in bad weather is a whole new ball game.

I wouldnt pay 5k for it. Selling a car can be hard, and if he is desperate enough you may be able to get it for 4k. who knows. good luck.

Just for comparison. I gave $5k for my car 4 years ago with 89k on the clock and a custom paint job. Its not worth $5k, no matter how well its been taken care of. Dont be "that kid" the he pawned his car off on.

Well, got the word today, it isn't going to happen. Even though it is cheaper, between me being 16, and my dad having a brand new DUI on his record, insurance would be almost more in itself then what I am paying for the gtp and the full coverage on it.

So instead I ordered some exhaust parts and got an inspection schedualed with Jon :wicked:
