Gawd, the ignorance of some people.

A stall converter is possibly the best strip mod for an automatic. I would expect more of a gain then that with the right choice of converter. Assuming you are talking about a non-stock, or even mildly modded, v8.

Like he said, if you choose the right converter you can really gain alot. I've actually seen a few turbo regals gain 50 whp right before my eyes on a dyno after bolting up a new converter. Granted it was a precision industries $1000 conveter. You get what you pay for though.

If I'm not mistaken, you dont gain HP from a converter. If anything, you will lose a few ponies on the dyno, but your ET will more than make up for the fallen ponies on the dyno graph.

PI has some of the best converters out there(thats all they use at my dads shop:D) but like Chris said, Im not sure if even the top dollar converter will get you any hp.

It *can* add HP if you compare it to a slipping converter or its a more efficient converter vs the one u had used on the dyno before.
Actually its not adding hp, just getting the power to ground better. But like you are saying, a slipping conveter will show less HP on a dyno, but drop the times at the track.
Converters = black magic :)

You're right, I was thinking of torque numbers. But doesn't torque matter just as much???:D I'd love a PI converter but shit, a $1000??? I'll stick with my 9"11" converter.
